Bicyclists severely injured after a suspected drunk motorcyclist hits them near Fresno

Three bicyclists suffered major injuries after being struck by a motorcyclist suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, Sgt. James Del Carlo of the California Highway Patrol said.

About 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, the 60-year-old man was traveling about 60 mph north on Auberry Road near Copper Avenue near northeast Fresno when he lost control of his Harley Davidson motorcycle and veered into a group of cyclists on the side of the road, said Del Carlo.

All three of the cyclists suffered major injuries and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the motorcycle also sustained injuries and was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, said Del Carlo.
