A girl was shot and a woman was pistol-whipped Tuesday morning in Fowler, police said.
The conditions of the victims are not known.
At 10:15 a.m., Fowler police received reports of a shooting in the 300 block of Fourth Street near Fresno Street.
When officers arrived, they found the girl shot and the woman injured, the victim of a beating, said Drew Bessinger, interim police chief.

Both were taken to Community Regional Medical Center. The shooting victim was conscious and responsive. The woman had bruises and contusions, Bessinger said.
The two assailants, both men, were known to the victims. They fled in a black or brown car, Bessinger said.
Bessinger said the Fresno County Sheriff's Office is taking over the investigation as the search for the men goes beyond Fowler.
