Two boys, ages 15 and 17, are in custody after a woman was severely beaten Saturday afternoon during a carjacking in Calwa, the California Highway Patrol reported Monday.
The boys were arrested Sunday in the 5100 block of East Olive Avenue by the HEAT auto theft task force. A CHP spokeswoman said the robbery happened about 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Tenth Street and Calwa Avenue, where the woman was pulled out of her car, punched repeatedly in the head and thrown to the ground. Her current condition was not disclosed.
A HEAT team investigator spotted the car Sunday with two males inside and followed it to the Olive Avenue address, where the 2002 vehicle was put under surveillance by detectives. The pair were arrested when they tried to drive away. A .40 caliber handgun was found in the car. Both juveniles were booked into Fresno County juvenile hall on charges of carjacking, theft and weapons violations.
