A 73-year-old Fresno woman was arrested Wednesday after police found around 20 pounds of opium at her home.
Sgt. Tim Tietjen with the Major Narcotics Unit said Mai Vang was arrested after a tip led police to her home on East Channing Avenue.
Tietjen said Vang had been receiving large shipments of opium from Thailand.
A search warrant for Vang’s home led to the discovery. Tietjen said Vang had been selling the narcotic.
Never miss a local story.
She was booked into the Fresno County Jail for possession and sale of opium.
“It’s something that’s very rare for us,” Tietjen said Thursday.
Vang was also arrested in 2002 for the same reason, Tietjen said. He said she had been dealing drugs for a long time.
Tietjen said the investigation into the shipments of opium will continue.
