An emergency medical services paramedic sustained head, back and other injuries early Tuesday when he was attacked by a patient in central Fresno, police reported.
The patient, Kasey Kure, 38, was arrested on charges of felony assault, Lt. Joe Gomez reported.
The incident took place just before 8 a.m. in a home on the 1500 block of East Yale Avenue, where an ambulance was sent to treat the victim of a fall. Kure was the fall victim and after he was placed in the ambulance, he reportedly tried to throw a computer out of the back of the vehicle. A paramedic prevented him from doing so, but was struck on the head with the device and also hit in the head with an elbow.
As the paramedic and Kure struggled with the computer, both fell onto the street, where Kure struck the paramedic with his fist before other crew members could restrain him.

Gomez said Kure was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries from the fall as well as his struggle with the paramedic. Once Kure is treated, he’ll be booked into Fresno County Jail on charges of assault and a misdemeanor warrant.
