A van full of teenage boys crashed into a ditch on Mercey Springs Road in Los Banos late Friday after authorities say the driver tried to outrun police while driving under the influence of drugs. Two of the teenage boys play football for Pacheco High School and three are former football players, according to David Snapp, Pacheco High’s head football coach.
The city of Fresno won big Friday in pretrial motions in the upcoming federal civil rights trial of two police officers who are accused of the fatal shooting two years ago of a mentally ill woman who was allegedly armed with two knives.
Double-murder suspect Dave Thomas McCann pleaded not guilty Friday in Fresno County Superior Court. McCann, 49, is accused of killing his wife, Tierney Cooper-McCann, 37, and her mother, Judith Faye Cooper, 68, at their Clovis home on May 7. He escaped and was captured the following week in Monterey County.
