Matt Olmos scored three times to lead Central High to a 4-0 win over El Toro-Lake Forest on Saturday in the final of the Harold S. Young boys soccer tournament at Hoover.
Olmos' flurry helped the Grizzlies improve to 8-0 on the season.
Nonleague: Roosevelt traveled to Salinas for two games, getting a goal from Jorge Rodriguez in a 1-1 tie against North Salinas and another goal from Rodriguez in a 3-0 win over Gonzalez.
Nike Cross Country Nationals: Buchanan's Hagen Reedy made more Central Section history, this time on a national level.
Reedy, a junior who became the first girl from the section to win a state Division I title last weekend, became the section's best-ever female placer at the national meet in Portland when she finished seventh in 17:57. Sarah Baxter of Simi Valley won in 17:38.
Footlocker West Regionals: Buchanan's C.J. Albertson earned a spot in next weekend's Footlocker Nationals by placing eighth in 15:46 over the 5K course at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
Cody Brazeal of Buchanan was 12th in 16:02 during a 217-runner race won by Carlsbad's Darren Fahy in 15:29.
Among the highlights in other divisions, Clovis resident Corey Matteson placing third in the Junior Boys (16:46), Clovis' Katie-Lynn Sandoval was 22nd in Junior Girls (21:01), Clovis' Kevin Banard was 12th in the Boys All Grades All-West Regional (15:59), Exeter's Katie Fry was 20th in the Girls All Grades All-West Regional (19:08) and Clovis' Kaylie Ogle was 34th in the Senior Girls (21:20).
Nonleague: Darby Emmons scored twice and Clovis North stayed perfect after two games with a 5-2 victory against Garces.
Eagle Classic: Tournament MVP Alex Fertig had 23 points and four steals, while all-tourney pick Ryan Swain added 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as Buchanan rolled past Alvarez-Salinas in the championship game.
Kerman Kiwanis Tournament: Shaq Moore scored 24 points and earned MVP honors as Madera South downed Kerman 72-31 for the title.
Sierra Pacific Tournament: MVP Derek Austrum's 26 points lifted Sierra to a 72-45 victory against Sanger for the championship. Damon Paz scored 30 in Fresno's 55-43 victory over Arvin for third.
Clovis Classic: Breona Minor wrapped up MVP honors with 14 points to help Clovis beat Lemoore 52-44 for the title on the Cougars' court.
Golden Valley Tournament: Hoover received points from 10 players, but none reached double-figures in a 54-35 loss to Dublin in the championship game.
Nabila Soeber led the Patriots with seven points.
Fowler Tournament: Washington, behind a 30-7 second-half blitz, pulled away from Laton for a 55-32 win and the championship.
Samantha Mendoza led the Panthers with 16 points. Parlier beat Fowler 62-35 for third place.
