An estimated 6,000 runners are expected to hit streets in north Fresno and Old Town Clovis this morning for the annual Two Cities Marathon & Half – which features the central San Joaquin Valley's only 26.2-mile race.
The marathon and 50-kilometer ultramarathon were scheduled to start at 7 a.m. with the half marathon at 7:30.
From its starting line at Friant Road and Audubon Drive, the marathon course takes runners across north Fresno and into Old Town Clovis, using surface streets and bike paths, before reversing directions for a second leg. The finish is inside Woodward Park.
Proceeds benefit local charities, including Children's Hospital Central California, Community Health Centers of Central California and the Fresno chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
A course map and list of road closures is available at fblinks.com/marmap. Visit fresnobee.com this afternoon for a gallery of photographs from race day.
