Paul Islas scored with 45 seconds left to lift top-seeded Fresno Pacific past No. 8 Westmont 2-1 on Wednesday at Ramirez Field to open the Golden State Athletic Conference men's soccer tournament.
The Sunbirds, ranked No. 21 nationally, improved to 12-5 and will host No. 5 Biola Saturday semifinal.
Islas scored his 16th goal, and fifth game-winner, on a header after a deep cross from Chris Young served into the box.
"I put my head down and just tried to put it on-frame," Islas said of his first career goal on a header. "I didn't expect to score but I figured we've got a minute left, I might as well give it a shot."

The Sunbirds outshot Westmont 32-7, but trailed before Islas passed to Luke Tyler for the equalizer in the 60th minute.
Second-seeded Azusa Pacific beat Hope International on penalty kicks to reach the semifinals against No. 3 Concordia, a 2-1 winner against No. 6 The Master's.
