Six football games are on the schedule tonight in Fresno and Tulare counties, including two that will play major roles in determining the Tri-River and County/Metro athletic conference champions.
At Lamonica Stadium, Central Section No. 1- ranked Clovis brings its 6-0 overall mark and 1-0 start in TRAC play into a showdown with No. 7 Central (5-1, 1-0). They played a classic last year, with Yoon Conner's 65-yard reception and run with 1:12 to play lifting Clovis to a 32-25 upset of the then-No. 4 Grizzlies. Conner's back, rushing for 758 yards this season. But so, too, is Central QB Michael Baker and his 1,169 yards passing.
In the CMAC, No. 5 Memorial (6-0, 1-0) visits No. 20 Sunnyside (5-1, 1-0) in a likely eliminator for the right to challenge No. 3 Edison for the conference crown. Memorial's victims include No. 10 Garces, No. 9 Clovis North and Mt. Whitney, who are a combined 12-4. Sunnyside, meanwhile, is the defending CMAC champion and coming off a 48-21 rout of Madera powered by Errian Wingfield's 332-yard, four-TD performance. The Wildcats defeated Memorial 21-10 last year.
