Monta Vista High-Cupertino, Menlo-Atherton, Santa Barbara and Mitty-San Jose have reached today's semifinals of the Division I bracket at the California High School Girls Tennis Classic.
The 116-team tournament – believed to be the largest high school girls event of its kind in the nation – has eight divisions in all and is being played out at 26 Fresno-area sites.
Play resumes at 8:30 a.m.
Monta Vista and Menlo will square off while Santa Barbara faces Mitty in the D-I semis at Buchanan.
The final is at 1:30 p.m.
Monta Vista dropped just one point while sweeping Saint Mary's-Stockton 7-0 and beating Saint Francis-Mountain View 6-1 in its first two matches Friday.
Among other divisions, Buchanan is among four teams playing in a D-II bracket at Copper River Country Club. Clovis West hosts three other teams in a D-II bracket at its courts.
Clovis North is in a D-II bracket at Granite Ridge Intermediate.
Clovis East hosts a pair of D-III brackets. Bullard also is hosting D-III play.
Clovis hosts a D-IV bracket that includes Redwood. Sanger is also among the D-IV hosts. Mt. Whitney and Immanuel are in D-V play at Clark Intermediate. Madera is a D-V host, too. D-VI sites include Central and Sunnyside. Hoover is among the D-VII hosts.
