Greater Fresno, a team of 14- and 15-year-olds, will play in the 30th World Boys Baseball Tournament Aug. 8-11 in Fukuoka, Japan.
It will be the 10th trip to Japan for Greater Fresno, coached by Fernie Garcia. They will compete against teams from Japan, China, Korea, Mexico Rojo, Alameda and San Diego.
Greater Fresno will have an alumni game July 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Clovis West's Stan Bledsoe Field with a barbecue to follow. A fundraising dinner/dance is July 15 at a residence at 9766 E. Sierra Ave.

Aleman's Guerrero scores highlight win on fight card
Hilario Guerrero beat Moises Maciel in a three-round, 141-pound men's open bout at Saturday's Independence Day Boxing Championships hosted by Aleman Boxing Fresno.
Guerrero, 18, is an Aleman club fighter. Maciel, 17, represents Fresno PAL. Fifteen bouts in all took place, with boxers from throughout California.
Other winners included: Anthony Vaca, Madera, 9 boys, 83 pounds; Lorraine Cisneros, Aleman Fresno, 9-10 girls, 80 pounds; Alejandro Cosio, Madera, 10-11 boys, 70 pounds; Kevin Mendoza, Aleman Fresno, 10 boys, 70 pounds; Braulio Jimenez, Madera, 9-10 boys, 70 pounds; and Jett Blackwell, Aleman Fresno, 10-11 boys, 113 pounds.

Perotti shines at NorCal junior tennis tournament
Fresno's Sydney Perotti won the girls 16 singles final during last week's Copper River Junior Open.
Perotti defeated Clovis' Sravya Gudipudi 6-4, 6-1 in the championship match.
Fresno's Jane Ellis won the girls 14 division, beating Clovis' Milah Ryland 7-6, 6-3.
On the boys side, Clovis' Samarth Gopal finished runner-up in the 16s, and Fresno's Daly Meinert was second in the 14s.
- Fresno's Geri King and Coarsegold's Candace Egan teamed to win the women's 4.0 doubles title at the Sunset Moulding-Yuba City Open. Egan and Ben Lutes of San Jose won the 4.0 mixed title.
Fresno State to host hoops day, skills camps in August
Fresno State's men's basketball team will host a youth day camp Aug. 1-5 and a skills camp Aug. 8-11.
The day camp for youths ages 7 to 16 runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $160 per camper by July 15.
For the skills camp, there is a morning session ($125 per camper) for first-graders through sixth-graders, and an afternoon session ($135) for seventh-graders through 2011 high school graduates.
