Clovis High placed fourth as a team and 171-pound champion Zach Nevills led nine individuals who medaled by placing in the top eight at the Cheesehead Invitational in Kaukauna, Wis.
Seven of the top 18 teams in the nation competed over two days of action last week. In the wake their strong showing, the Cougars leaped this week from 18th to No. 10 in the Clinch Gear National High School Team Rankings.
Nick Nevills (285) was second, Taylor Ferguson (215) third and Daniel Gaytan (119) fourth. Other medalists were Blake Thompson (160, fifth); Juan Salas (130, fifth); Brady Bersano (140, sixth); Jonas Gayton (112, sixth); and Ryan Davies (189, seventh).
