The Buchanan High girls posted the Central Section's best team performance at today's state cross country championships at Woodward Park, finishing third led by Macy Bricks in seventh in Division I girls.
The Buchanan boys finished fifth but had the section's top individual finish, fourth by CJ Albertson.
Redwood High senior Justin Vilhauer's hopes for a state championship were dashed, however, as he finished a distant 41st in the Division II boys race.
