Miss Winkles Pet of the Week: Asher
Asher is a funny kind of guy. He’s about a year-and-a-half old and is a Staffordshire Terrier blend. He may look like a smaller guy, but he sure is a sturdy one at almost 50 pounds.
He can be a really fun, playful wildman when you’re in the mood to throw a ball or wrestle with a plushy toy and he does have a lot of potential when it comes to his training. With just a bit of work he’s really doing well on a leash, learning to wait at thresholds and walk without pulling. He already knows “sit,” and is learning “down.” Asher is highly treat-motivated which makes learning new tricks that much easier and more fun.
Asher is a friend to every person he meets, though due to his energy and mouthy style of play he’d do particularly well with older children and adults.
Never miss a local story.
He’s a big kisser and you can’t escape from him without a few licks on the cheek, hand, elbow, or nose - basically any exposed surface is fair game for this big excited lover! Asher has been working on correcting his mouthy play and has come a long way in learning to take life a bit more gently, which he does very well with experienced and even intermediate handlers.
It doesn’t take long to bond with this sweet fellow, since he’s all love and everything he does is to please his humans.
He’s got a fantastic, toothy smile, and a happy-go-lucky kind of attitude you can’t beat. Stop on by if you’re looking for a dog who likes playtime and can’t get enough of you.
