Spring is just around the corner - officially beginning March 20. The Clovis Botanical Garden (CBG) is kicking-off the season with the Spring Into Your Garden Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 28 at the garden, located at 945 N. Clovis Avenue next to Dry Creek Park. The event will include a plant sale, landscape consultations, garden tours, and even lunch options.
With low rain-fall this season, there will be important information shared about water-wise plants. Some of those plants will be for sale, including aloes, cacti, and edible herbs.
There will also be garden tours on the hour as follows:
• 10 a.m., Cactus & Succulents: Display, Design and Care with Madeleine Mitchell, UCCE Master Gardener.
• 11 a.m., Adding Mediterranean Herbs to Your Drought-Tolerant Garden with Elinor Teague, UCCE Master Gardener, Fresno Bee garden columnist.
• 12 p.m., California Native Plants with Thelma Valdez, California Native Plant Specialist.
The garden can also be toured at 9:30 a.m. with landscape designer and Certified Arborist Susan Stiltz, and at 10:30 a.m. with CBG Board President Anne Clemons.
A private landscape design consultation can also be scheduled prior to the event with one of the two featured landscape designers at the event - Terry Key and John Pape. Call (559) 287-2320 to schedule an appointment.
There will be a dedication and grand opening of the new Mediterranean Garden at 1 p.m. There will also be a variety of environmental groups, exhibits, vendors and food trucks at the event.
Entrance to the event is a $5 donation for adults and children. The event is free for CBG members.

About Clovis Botanical Garden:
According to the CBG website, the garden grew out of an idea presented to the Clovis City Council in 1993 by Gordon Russell. By 1995 legal non-profit status was granted to the Clovis Botanical Garden Committee, Inc. In 1998, a site was located on Clovis City parkland, and ground was broken in 2002.
