A 34-year-old man wanted for seven warrants and in connection with at least four high-speed pursuits was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Clovis after he rammed several police cruisers while trying to get away, police said.
Detectives set up surveillance of a residence in the 1000 block of North Burl Avenue to catch the suspect, who police said had five warrants for possession and sales of drugs, one for driving under the influence and another for driving on a suspended or revoked license. He was also wanted as a suspect in at least four pursuits in Clovis and Fresno County in the last two months, all of which had to be called off for safety reasons.
About 4:30 p.m. the man got into his vehicle and rammed two Clovis police cruisers and another vehicle while trying to flee, police said. After police stopped the suspect's car, he tried to run away by climbing out of the passenger window.
Police said that officers used a stun gun on him when he resisted arrest.
He will face three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and drug charges, police said.
