Summer is here and the Central Valley gets very hot this time of year. Cooling stations are crowded and utility bills take a steep hike, which many families just can’t afford. Allbritten Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, an established locally-owned company that has been serving its customers since 1932, is helping out one family in need with a Home Energy Makeover. People can nominate themselves or someone they know to receive this makeover to help lower their energy bills and stay comfortable in their home.
Every year, Allbritten participates in charity work and this year they thought they would take a different approach and volunteer their time to help out a local family who may need a new air conditioner, maybe some insulation and air sealing in their home, or new duct work but just couldn't afford it. The management was ecstatic about the idea and was very willing to donate the related materials for this project.
“Fixing or replacing air conditioners, duct work, plumbing, insulation and other items to keep your home comfortable and energy efficient can be quite costly,” states Jerry Unruh, president of Allbritten. “With all the cooling stations set up around the Valley often being full, and with times still being tough financially for many local families, keeping homes cool in the triple digit heat can be difficult. We are excited about the chance to really make a difference in one family’s lives.”
Never miss a local story.
“We are really focusing on finding a family or individual with a need that we can fill,” explains Dave Guerra, Allbritten’s general manager. “We are really focused on wanting to help the people more than trying to find the home with the highest energy bill that would win a contest for the most inefficient home. It’s really about helping people.”
Since each home has different needs, an exact cost of this project has not been set. Some of the items that may be included in this makeover project may include fixing an existing, or installing a new heating and air conditioning system, fixing or installing new duct work, fixing plumbing issues, replacing hot water heater, air sealing leaks and insulating an attic or crawl space and many more options.
