Three people were killed Friday when their 2010 Ford Mustang crashed into a tree in Auberry, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The 27-year-old driver from Clovis was speeding westbound on Frazier Road, west of Auberry Road, around 5:40 p.m. after leaving the Stonehouse Tavern when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road, the CHP said.
The car crossed the eastbound lane and traveled through a barbed wire fence before the right front side collided with a large oak tree.
The driver and his two passengers, a 40-year-old woman from Auberry and a 42-year-old woman from Clovis, were pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology results are pending.
