6:15 a.m.: A sheriff's spokesman said the standoff ended shortly after 2 a.m. when deputies searched a home and a trailer on the property and the man they sought was not there.
He was identified as Lloyd Fryrear, 42, of Coalinga.
Residents near a Coalinga home were evacuated Thursday afternoon where a 42-year-old armed man refused to leave his home, said Fresno County Sheriff Department spokesman Chris Curtice.
Never miss a local story.
Coalinga Police attempted to serve a search warrant at the home on the 500 block of Valley Street.
Police advised anyone in the home to come out. A female came outside and as she saw officers she quickly turned and went back inside, Curtice said.
The Fresno County Sheriff's Department SWAT team took over the standoff around 5:30 p.m., surrounded the home and used tear gas to try and get the man out of the home.
A woman came out shortly after the first round of tear gas was deployed. She was taken into custody by the Coalinga Police Department.
Sixty officers from multiple agencies are on scene including the Clovis Police Department, the California Highway Patrol and the Tulare County Sheriff's Department. Officers from the Clovis, Visalia and Hanford Police Departments are aiding in the standoff.
Officers will be on site until the man is taken into custody, Curtice said.
