A fire in a three-plex apartment building displaced three families, including eight adults and six children, Friday evening in east-central Fresno, the Fresno Fire Department said.
The blaze started about 5:15 p.m. near the 4200 block of North Chestnut Avenue and was contained by 5:40 p.m., Battalion Chief Rich Cabral said.
All three units were involved, but the center unit was extremely damaged. The estimated damage to all three units is $100,000, Cabral said.
Twenty Fresno firefighters and three Clovis firefighters fought the blaze.

The Red Cross is assisting the victims of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
