The Clovis Fire Department fought two fires simultaneously within a two-mile radius Monday night. The first fire was reported at a playground on Stanford Avenue near Decatur Avenue. Fire crews needed more than an hour to extinguish the blaze, Clovis Fire Capt. Tim Wilson said.
The cause of the fire and estimated damage have yet to be determined, Wilson said.
Around 7:30 p.m. another fire was reported at a home near Temperance and Herndon avenues, Clovis Fire Battalion Chief Jason Ralls said.
The blaze started when food was left unattended on the house's electric stove, he said.

The fire then burned into the ventilation duct and entered the attic.
Damage was estimated at $25,000, Ralls said.
The residents of the home were unharmed, he said. The Red Cross will assist the displaced family while their home is repaired.
