A woman severely injured when she crashed her bicycle Saturday during the Fresno Classic Century has died.
Crystel Stanford, 29, of San Carlos was on a downhill part of the ride when she applied her brakes, skidded and was thrown to the ground, according to the California Highway Patrol.
She was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. She died Tuesday, according to hospital spokeswoman Mara Lisa Russell.
Stanford's family said they planned to donate her organs.
Friends are using Facebook to organize the Crystel Stanford Memorial Ride for 8-11 a.m. Saturday starting at Clovis East High School. The bike ride is expected to be around 30 miles.
