New details were released Monday about a fatal traffic collision early Sunday on Highway 41 in Madera County.
The California Highway Patrol said Bruce David Faux, 49, of Coarsegold was driving drunk in heavy fog and following a Ford Mustang that was northbound on Highway 41, north of Avenue 15.
The CHP said Faux, driving a Toyota Sienna, pulled into the southbound lane to pass the Mustang at 12:18 a.m. and did not see Eddie Dewayne Johnson, 57, of Clovis, who was riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle.
Johnson did not have time to react, was struck head-on by the Toyota and suffered fatal injuries, the CHP said.
A passenger on the motorcycle, Wilma Tucker, 53, of Fresno was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where she was in critical condition.
Faux was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, the CHP said. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder, felony DUI causing death and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
