The Marine Corps was part of the army of people participating Thursday in the Toys for Tots National Kickoff in Clovis.
The Toys R Us store on Shaw Avenue in Clovis donated $11,000 worth of toys during the drive that will end Dec. 20.
Marine Corps members loaded boxes of toys during the annual shopping spree at the store.
Toys for Tots hopes to gather more than a million toys this year and will hand them out during the Christmas season to families with kids up to 12 years old.
Officials encouraged the public and private business to step up and keep the donations coming, since it’s expected there will be a huge demand this year because of the high unemployment.
