A memorial service for Gregory Henry, a high school principal in Hanford who this week took his own life, will be held Saturday in Lemoore.
Henry, principal of Sierra Pacific High School, killed himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday afternoon in his pickup. Using cellphone tracking technology, Hanford police found his body in the truck along a dirt road outside of town.
Why he killed himself remains a mystery.
A celebration of Henry’s life will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Golden Eagles Arena at West Hills College Lemoore.

His family issued a statement thanking the community for its support.
“The Henry family would like to thank the Hanford community for its outpouring of sympathy and support during these difficult days,” said the statement delivered by pastor Bruce Kane of Epic Church in Hanford.
“Their grief is soothed by the warmth of kind words, flowers, and small acts of kindness,” the statement said.
Henry, 51, was well-known in Hanford as the principal for 10 years at Pioneer Middle School.
“A lot of people want the Sheriff’s Office to come up with answers,” Kings County Assistant Sheriff Dave Putnam said. “I don’t know any definitive answers. I am not aware of any criminal investigation against him.”
Hanford police Chief Parker Sever also said he knows of nothing of a criminal nature involving Henry.
Sheriff’s detectives investigated the death because his body was found in a county area, Putnam said.
Before taking his own life, Henry texted his wife and children, telling them “vaguely that he did not want to put them through a personnel investigation and was basically saying goodbye,” Putnam said.
The text message prompted the family to contact Hanford police for help. Police broadcast to officers to be on the lookout for Henry.
Those attending the memorial “are encouraged to wear cheerful colors, highlighting the joys of Greg’s life,” Kane’s message said.
Henry wore a pink shirt to school at least once a week, Sierra Pacific students said.
Well-wishers are asked to make a donation to the Greg Henry Memorial Fund at Hanford Joint Union High School District. All donations will benefit deserving students in pursuit of higher education, the statement said.
