The 7,050-acre Mineral fire west of Coalinga is now 60 percent contained, Cal Fire said Saturday morning.
Around 1,800 firefighters are working on controlling the fire that started Monday evening around 10:30 p.m. near the area of Highway 198 and Mineral Road. Steep and rugged terrain make battling the fire a challenge for firefighters on the ground. Nine helicopters and five air tankers have been assisting from the air.
So far there have been no injuries, but one home and one outbuilding destroyed. All evacuation warnings and orders have been lifted.
The fire is expected to be 100 percent contained by Tuesday, Cal Fire said.
