The Goose fire burning in Prather since July 30 is now 94 percent contained, Cal Fire said Saturday evening.
The fire destroyed four homes and five outbuildings, burning a total of 2,241 acres in the area of Morgan Canyon and Gooseberry Lane, south of Prather.
Firefighters continue to extinguish hot spots and improve containment lines as of Saturday, but all roads have been opened and evacuation orders have been lifted. The more than 1,650 firefighters that have battled the fire are beginning to be released to other fires in the state, Cal Fire said.
Full containment of the fire is expected Monday, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
