The fast-moving 123-acre Green Fire that threatened homes in the foothills east of Clovis is now fully contained, Cal Fire officials said Saturday evening.
The fire was reported near Marshall Station at Auberry and Wellbarn roads southwest of Prather about 4:30 p.m. Friday, causing road closures at Auberry Road between Granite Creek and Little Wildhorse Roads.
Fire crews were able to stop forward progression last night, keeping the fire contained at 123 acres. Cal Fire officials said five outbuildings were destroyed, but no homes were damaged thanks to residents’ preparedness in creating defensible perimeters around their property.
Cal Fire Capt. John Dominguez said that the fire was caused by discarded smoking material five feet from Auberry Road.
Never miss a local story.
All evacuations have been lifted and roads are now open, Dominguez said.
Investigators haven’t identified a person of interest in the fire investigation, but they will be following leads from residents in the area, Dominguez said.
