The Marjaree Mason Center announced that 2015 Miss America Kira Kazantsev will be the keynote speaker at Fresno’s 33rd annual Top Ten Professional Women and Leading Business Awards on Oct. 14.
The center is Fresno’s only dedicated provider of domestic violence shelter and support services, and the former Miss America plans on addressing these issues.
Kazantsev has personal experiences with dating violence, her pageant platform was “Love Shouldn’t Hurt” and she has a partnership with Safe Horizon, the largest nonprofit victim services agency in the country.
The ceremony will honor local professionals, bringing an expected 1,000 attendees together with the goal to raise awareness for domestic violence. Ten women will receive awards as role models for the community, and one business will be honored as leading business of the year for its support of women facing these issues.
The Mason Center is accepting award nominations online through 5 p.m. Friday, July 22. Honorees will be chosen by a panel of judges and announced in August.
The luncheon will be at the Fresno Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. To order tickets, make a nomination or get more information, go to www.mmcenter.org/top-ten.
