A man was killed after running a stop sign on Road 19 and Avenue 14 west of Madera just before 7 a.m. Monday, the California Highway Patrol said.
The 25-year-old man was driving south on Road 19 when he failed to stop and was hit by a vehicle driving east on Avenue 14. The 18-year-old man driving that vehicle did not have a stop sign, and suffered only chest pain, the CHP said. The 25-year-old suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead. He was identified Monday afternoon as Salvador Carranza Jr. of Madera.
CHP said alcohol or drugs are not factors in the crash.
