A Fresno woman suffered major injuries Sunday after a pickup traveling 65 to 70 mph rear-ended her car as she was stopped at a light on Ashlan and Clovis avenues in the Tarpey Village area, Sgt. Mike Trenholm with the California Highway Patrol said.
The CHP said the woman, later identified as Mariela Garibaldy, 25, was in a Honda Accord stopped at the light on Clovis Avenue at Ashlan Avenue about 12:30 p.m. when the black Toyota pickup driven by Jerry Vue, 35, of Fresno, rear-ended her and shoved her into another vehicle that was attempting to make a turn at the intersection.
Garibaldy was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, Ana Martinez, 68, of Clovis, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. Vue was not transported.
Trenholm said drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
