Enjoy the comparatively mild weather Friday, because the weekend is going back to those triple digits that have everyone sweating.
The National Weather Service says Friday’s temperatures will stay below 100 degrees, but Saturday will see triple digits again, and it will only get hotter into next week. Tuesday is forecast to be the hottest day of the week at a scorching 104 degrees.
98Thursday’s high in Fresno
The heat is caused by high pressure over the four corners region, the area where Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona meet. The weather service says there is still some uncertainty about just how hot it will get, “but model consensus is for highs 102-106 across the San Joaquin Valley Monday through Wednesday, with Tuesday looking like the warmest day.”

The Weather Channel’s iPhone app predicts even higher numbers, going from 100 degrees Saturday to 106 Sunday. Its forecast continues to be hotter than the weather service’s, with Tuesday’s high at 108.
