A 21-year-old Fresno woman was killed early Tuesday when she was struck by a car driven by a Clovis man on Highway 99 in Madera County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash occurred just after 1 a.m. in the southbound lanes of 99 at Avenue 17. The CHP said Koumesith Moua, 46, was southbound on 99 in the left lane at a speed of about 60 mph when he came upon a Honda stopped partially in the left lane and partially in the median after a crash. The woman driver was standing to the left of the Honda, which had its flashers on. The CHP said that Moua steered to the left of the vehicle and collided with the woman and the Honda before slamming into a guard rail. The woman died at the scene. Moua and a passenger in the Honda were not hurt.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the CHP at 559-675-1025.
