Max, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office K-9 dog who retired in 2012, has died, the office announced Friday.
Max was 12 years old and served the sheriff’s office for five years before retiring to live with his handler, Sgt. Chris Barsteceanu, who bought Max from the sheriff’s office.
Max’s last ride was to the veterinary office in the back of a sheriff’s K-9 patrol car.
The sheriff’s office said condolences may be sent to the Kings County Sheriff’s Office, 1444 W. Lacey Blvd., Hanford 93230.
