The Fresno IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center is now taking appointments to assist taxpayers, with many answers online available at IRS.gov.
To schedule an appointment at the Fresno Center, 2525 Capitol St., call 1-844-545-5640.
Many tax options like getting a tax transcript, making a payment, resolving a notice or obtaining a form or publication can be resolved at IRS.gov without an appointment.
For those who make less than $54,000 a year, persons with disabilities and taxpayers speaking limited English who need help filing can use the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
In addition to the volunteer program, the Tax Counseling for the Elderly program offers free tax help for all taxpayers, particularly those who are 60 and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors.
