Public comments are now being accepted for an environmental draft assessment analyzing the impacts of acquiring water supplies from groundwater wells near Los Banos and the Grassland Ecological Area as part of a five-year action plan through February 2021.
The proposed action allows for new water acquisition and exchange agreements between the Bureau of Reclamation and parties in the vicinity of the south-of-Delta refuges. Wells in the plan could produce up to 29,000 acre-feet annually of acceptable quality groundwater that would likely be used for agricultural, municipal and industrial purposes within the Central Valley Project’s service area.
The Draft EA was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and is available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_projdetails.cfm?Project_ID=23467.
Written comments must be received by Dec. 23, and should be sent to Brad Hubbard, Bureau of Reclamation, 2800 Cottage Way MP-410, Sacramento, CA 95825, emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, or faxed to 916-978-5059.
