New safety measures for Cayucos July 4 parade

Cayucos has implemented new safety measures for its July 4 parade celebration.

Chairs and other articles cannot be put out before 6 p.m. on the evening of July 3. All property set out before that time on any public street or sidewalk will be removed and taken to the “Chair Snare,” where it can be retrieved.

The “Chair Snare” is located behind Cayucos Veterans Hall.

Trailers and trucks should not be parked along the parade route until the evening of July 3.

According to Cayucos Fire Department, street parking on the streets above Ocean Avenue is going to be extremely limited. The streets are very narrow.

Carpooling is highly recommended.

The community measure is a partnership of San Luis Obispo County Public Works, Cayucos Citizens Advisory Council, Cayucos Chamber of Commerce and the Cayucos Lions club, as well as many merchants and citizens.

The community measure is based on a county ordinance that prohibits blocking public sidewalks and streets.
