A Bakersfield man died in a two-car crash west of Woodlake in Tulare County on Tuesday morning.
The crash happened around 5:25 a.m. at the intersection of Avenue 344 and Road 164.
The driver of a Honda sedan, Angel Gonzalez Lopez, 37 of Bakersfield, failed to stop at the stop sign at Avenue 344 and continued into the intersection into the direct path of a GMC pickup driven by Pablo Gomes, 43, of Exeter, the CHP reported.
The impact caused the Honda to crash through a chain link fence and hit a parked vehicle at a residence. The passenger in the right front seat of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of his family, the CHP reported.
Gomes, Lopez and an additional passenger in his Honda, Guadalupe Ramirez, 46, of Bakersfield, were taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Lopez's injuries were major, the CHP reported, while Ramirez and Gomes had minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a contributing factor, the CHP reported.
