Motorists in Fresno on Wednesday morning should be ready to share the road with a number of bicyclists riding from Manchester Mall to Fulton Mall.
The 14th annual Mall-to-Mall Bike Ride begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Sears parking lot at Manchester Mall in central Fresno. Cyclists will travel south on Blackstone Avenue and should arrive downtown around 8:30 a.m. at Little Bean Cafe on Fulton Mall.
The ride is hosted by the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition and I Bike Fresno in celebration of National Bike Month.
On-site registration for the ride begins at 7:45 a.m. The Mall-to-Mall Bike Ride coincides with I Bike Fresno’s Million Mile Challenge. All miles logged online for the ride will count toward the community’s goal of riding a collective million miles in the month of May. The I Bike Fresno homepage keeps a tally of how many miles Fresno County has logged throughout the month.
The Fresno County Bicycle Coalition is focused on maintaining, improving and expanding bicycle facilities; supporting bicycle safety and education; and promoting riding bicycles to help improve air quality, public health and traffic flow.
I Bike Fresno was founded in 2010 as a campaign and resource to “show Fresno that the bicycle is not only a recreational item, but also a tool for transportation, independence and joy,” according to the website.
I Bike Fresno is an initiative of the Bike Happy Foundation.
