Fresno County crews battled several wildfires that charred more than 100 acres in the eastern part of the county Monday.
Cal Fire said the biggest blaze consumed about 40 acres near Highway 180 and Alta Avenue, east of Sanger. Fire spokesman Ryan Michaels said aircraft and heavy equipment were brought in to fight the fire, which was contained without damage to any structures.
Another fire near Herndon and Academy avenues east of Clovis blackened 35 acres, Michaels said, adding Cal Fire responded to eight different rural fires — some small that were extinguished within minutes — Monday afternoon. Firefighters fought two other blazes earlier Monday along Academy Avenue.
All fires were contained by Monday evening. No significant structures were damaged and no one was hurt.
