A 38-year-old man was killed in a crash on Interstate 5 in the Coalinga area on Friday afternoon.
The San Mateo man, who wasn’t named pending notification of his family, was driving a 2005 Dodge van south on Interstate 5, north of Mt. View Avenue. The California Highway Patrol said the van drifted into another lane of southbound I-5 and struck the side of a 2013 Hyundai Elantra around 12:55 p.m. The Hyundai spun out onto the right shoulder of the roadway and the van overturned.
The van’s passenger, Autumn Feldmeier, 43, of San Francisco, was moderately injured and taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. The three people inside the Hyundai, all from Tracy, were not injured.
The CHP said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, and everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seatbelt.
