The Central California Animal Disaster Team will host a free workshop on the link between animal cruelty and human violence on Thursday at the Clovis Police Department.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Phil Arkow, a lecturer, trainer and author, will be the presenter.
Arkow has written more than 60 books on the link between animal abuse and human violence. Arkow said the link is particularly prevalent in cases of child abuse or neglect, domestic violence and elder abuse. He will also discuss how companion animals can be used as leverage in abuse cases and the implications of animal abuse for law enforcement.
