A bicyclist was in critical condition Sunday evening after he was hit cycling through an intersection on Shaw and Peach avenues, according to Clovis Police Cpl. Rich Ashcraft.
Video evidence from city cameras show the man, described as white and in his 30s, crossing south on Peach Avenue against east and westbound traffic, which had a green light. He was struck by a four-door sedan driving east.
The man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with head injuries and hip and leg fractures, Ashcraft said.
The man driving the sedan stopped and was cooperative with authorities, Ashcraft said.
Never miss a local story.
The driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Ashcraft said, but it’s not yet clear if the bicyclist was.
Lanes will be closed at the intersection for at least three hours while the accident is investigated, Ashcraft said.
