A Porterville toddler was rushed to the hospital Sunday morning and was in critical condition after being run over in the driveway by his uncle, according to police.
The 20-month-old boy was outside his home on the 300 block of North Salisbury Street when his uncle, identified as Gildardo Vasquez-Martinez, 32, accidentally ran him over just before 10 a.m.
The boy’s parents drove him to Sierra View Medical Center in Porterville, where he was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
Vasquez-Martinez is cooperating with authorities and provided a blood sample for analysis, but it is still unclear if alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident, police said. He was not arrested pending further investigation.
