At a news conference Monday, Madera police Chief Dino Lawson said the shooting happened about 7:30 p.m. Sunday when the boy, Leonardo Demetrio Morales, was riding in the car with his dad. He said a vehicle pulled up to the father and son’s vehicle and someone fired multiple rounds into their car as they were southbound on Tozer Avenue.
Monday marked the first day of Fresno’s new bus rapid transit system, called FAX Q, which stands for "quick" and “quiet." The buses, running on natural gas and painted in a distinctive light blue, will run along Kings Canyon to downtown, then up Blackstone to Woodward Park and back.

The annual award recognizes individuals for their accomplishments, leadership and commitment to the community. Established in 1984, the award is named for the former owner of Valley Foundry and Machine Works Leon S. Peters, a well-known philanthropist in Fresno and the central San Joaquin Valley. The company was a world-wide supplier of agricultural equipment.
