Local World War II veterans will leave Fresno for Washington, D.C. Monday morning on the Valley’s sixth Honor Flight.
The veterans will be flown to the nation’s capital to visit the World War II Memorial.
Check-in for the flight begins at 6 a.m. Veterans and guardians will depart after a water-cannon salute by the Fresno Fire Department at 8:35 a.m.
The national Honor Flight network provides trips to Washington, D.C., for American veterans of World War II. A guardian, often a family member, provides $1,000 for the cost of the trip and accompanies the veteran to the capital. The Central Valley chapter of the Honor Flight network serves Fresno, Madera, Kings, Tulare, Stanislaus, Mariposa, and Merced counties.
