A 26-year-old Kerman man died Monday afternoon when he was thrown from his car in a single-vehicle collision south of Madera, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The man, who has not been identified, was traveling at a high rate of speed south on Highway 145 near Avenue 11 when his 1996 Saturn went off the roadway and onto the gravel and dirt shoulder, the CHP said.
The driver tried to regain control but the Saturn spun and a tire caught a portion of an asphalt driveway and began to overturn. The driver was thrown from the vehicle.
The crash is under investigation.
