While an Associated Press investigation reveals there have been at least 82 incidents in which people reached the airfields of the international airports serving San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Jose and San Diego between January 2004 and January 2015, there have been none recently in Fresno.
Vikkie Calderon, a spokeswoman for Fresno Yosemite International Airport, said someone did get past a fence recently, though.
"Three weeks ago, we did have an intoxicated driver crash through our fence at Shields and Winery avenues" near the Signature Flight Services and Corporate Aircraft hangars northwest of the airline passenger terminal, Calderon said. "But there were no security issues involved with that." The driver was quickly nabbed and the fence repaired.
