The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District and Valley CAN (Clean Air Now) are offering free smog tests and diagnostic inspections for Valley residents on Saturday at the Fresno County Fairgrounds.
The Tune In & Tune Up emissions testing will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. next to the Mosqueda Center at the corner of Maple and Butler avenues in southeast Fresno. Because of the large number of people expected, the gates will open at 5:30 a.m. in hopes of reducing congestion on surrounding streets. Organizers say motorists should expect a wait of at least two hours for their car to be screened. Free food and drinks will be offered starting at 9 a.m. while supplies last.
More than 10,000 cars have been brought up to state standards by Valley CAN’s Tune In & Tune Up since 2003, making it one of the most cost-effective methods in reducing admissions in California.
The first 525 vehicles that qualify will receive a $500 voucher for repairs at participating smog service shops. The event is only a screening and diagnosis for cars and no smog certificates will be issued. Details: email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone (800) 806-2004.
